Gelfling

The Gelflings were once a great elven-like race on the world of Thra. They had created large cities and had mastered many aspects of magic, including the ability of prophecy. They were also a peaceful race who opposed the Skeksis and their use of the Garthim to capture Podlings for slaves.
Fearing for the future of their word should the crystal remain unhealed they used their magic to see the future which resulted in the creation of The Wall of Destiny and The Prophacy that a Gelfling would lead to the downfall of the Skeksis. When the Skeksis learned of this prophacy they launched their Garthim forces to wipe out the race.
Only two Gelfling's were known to survive; Jen and Kira.
Almost all of the history and knowledge of the Gelfling's was lost and their cities were reduced to ruins with the Skeksis attack on their race.
A natural magical ability Gelflings appear to have is the gift of 'Dream-fasting' in which two Gelflings share knowledge and memories upon contact, such as holding hands. Theoretically this gift would allow Gelflings to pass on knowledge without the need of lenthy, time consuming, speeches.

[edit] Physical traits.
Gelflings have pale, almost white skin, large eyes, soft features and pointed ears. They stand at an approximate 5 feet tall.
Female Gelflings have wings that are useful for gliding and slowing falls but do not appear to give them the ability to fly. Presumeably because the wings are too small and weak to allow something the size of a Gelflling to fly. Although in the novelization Kira says:
